Isabela Maganga

MD, EQUITY BANK TANZANIA

Isabela is a career banker with over fifteen years of experience. She is the MD, Equity Bank (Tanzania) Limited and previously led Commercial department, overseeing retail and business banking, branch network, corporate banking and bancassurance functions. ​ Her experience includes Business development, Strategic planning, Mentorship and Governance in different financial institutions in Tanzania. SME banking and Agribusiness financing are the areas of specialization having worked on SME and Agribusiness finance in various commercial banks. She joined Equity in January 2020 and before then she worked as Manager Business Development, Manager Agribusiness and Senior Manager SME and Agribusiness at CRDB Bank PLC. Isabela holds a Master of Science in Finance and Investments from Coventry University, a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science and Management from Sokoine University of Agriculture. She also holds a High Diploma in Banking from Milpark Business School. Certified Expert on SME Finance from Frankfurt Business school. Prior to her appointment, Isabela Maganga was the Head of Commercial at the Bank.

Dr. Anselmi Anselmi

Director, ACCLAVIA GROUP

Ancellmi is a Director of Consultancy & International Relations at the Africa College of Insurance and Social Protection. He is an avid Researcher, Consultant, Author & a Trainer for government and international organizations on planning, policy, regulation and strategy. He serves as the Country Microinsurance Coordinator in Tanzania (TIRA/FSDT) facilitate SC and TWG in deployment of the Inclusive Strategy 2020 - 2030. As a business man & CEO, he develops various insurance products, and builds partnerships in deploying the insurance projects for Acclavia Insurance Brokers & Risk Consultants. He is a Lecturer at the Tanzania Public Service College. He serves in various taskforces within the insurance industry and outside geared at engineering growth of the financial sector and inclusive economy such as Governing Council Tanzania Insurance Brokers Association, secretary to the Tax Reforms Committee of the Insurance Industry in Tanzania, Africa Insurers Organization (AIO) Microinsurance Working Group and InsuResilience Global Partnership.

IRENE MADEJE MLOLA

Director General, COPRA

is a seasoned leader with over 24 years of experience driving transformative initiatives across multiple sectors, including finance, agriculture, telecommunications, digital services, and development. She has a proven track record in successfully leading organizational change management efforts at both organizational and sectoral levels. Irene has held key roles at prominent organizations, both inside and outside of Tanzania, including Barclays Bank (now ABSA), Vodacom, Airtel, and the Financial Sector Deepening Trust (FSDT).

A trusted facilitator of multisector partnerships, Irene excels in building relationships with high-level decision-makers across the public, private, and development sectors. Her strategic negotiations have secured over US$100 million in funding for development initiatives. In her current role as Director General at the Cereals and Other Produce Regulatory Authority (COPRA), Irene is responsible for establishing and operationalizing a key regulatory body that drives Tanzania's agricultural transformation, ensuring food security and enhancing the competitiveness of agricultural commodities.

Irene's leadership has earned her numerous accolades, including recognition from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) as one of Tanzania's leading women in finance, as well as the 2020 Women in Management Africa Award (WIMA) . She also serves in several advisory and board roles, including Vice Chairperson of the Tanzania Cooperative Development Commission (TCDC), Board Member and Chair of the Credit Committee at Exim Bank Tanzania, Board Member of TTCL Pesa Limited, and Member of the National Steering Committee for the Credit Guarantee Scheme. Additionally, Irene is a Board Member at Tanzania Oxygen Gases Limited (TOL). She is a passionate advocate for women's financial inclusion and youth empowerment in Tanzania.

Irene holds a range of prestigious academic qualifications, including an Executive MBA from Maastricht School of Management and ESAMI , a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University , and a Harvard Business School certificate in Strategic Leadership in Inclusive Finance, among others.

Dr. Baghayo Saqware

Commissioner, TIRA

Dr. Saqware is a Commissioner of Insurance and Chief Executive Officer of Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) from 2017-2019 and 2022 to date. Dr. Saqware started his career as compliance officer with National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and later he joined Institute of Finance Management and Tanzania Institute of Accountancy (TIA) as a lecturer in Insurance, Social Protection and Risk Management subjects for the past 19 years. Prior to joining TIRA as a Commissioner of Insurance, he has held number management positions; he was Dean of Faculty of Insurance and Social Protection at the Institute of Finance Management (IFM), Ministerial Health Insurance Coordinator at the Ministry of Health (MoH) and Secretary to Insurance and Social Protection Technical Team that advice Bank of Tanzania on Insurance and Social Protection related matters. Dr. Saqware has extensive experience in Leadership, Research and Consultancies at varies levels.

Prof. Mohamed Janabi

Executive Director, Muhimbili National Hospital

Dr Mohamed Yakub Janabi assumed office as WHO Regional Director for Africa on 30 June 2025, bringing to the role over three decades of distinguished leadership in clinical medicine, health policy, public health and health systems development across the continent, and beyond.

A prominent cardiologist, health strategist and global health diplomat, Professor Janabi has dedicated his career to strengthening health systems, advancing equitable care, and championing innovation and collaboration to improve health in Africa.

Dr Janabi’s vision is for a healthier, resilient and prosperous Africa, in which everyone has access to quality health care through equitable, innovative and sustainable systems. His priorities include advancing universal health coverage; reducing maternal and child mortality; tackling communicable and noncommunicable diseases; promoting climate-resilient health systems; and strengthening health security and emergency preparedness. He is also a strong proponent of domestic health financing, local research and innovation, and regional and global partnerships to address Africa’s shared health challenges.

Prior to his appointment, Dr Janabi served as Senior Health Advisor to the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, and Executive Director of Muhimbili National Hospital, the country’s largest referral facility. He previously led the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute, which he founded and transformed into a leading regional centre of excellence in cardiovascular care.

Marianna Balampama

Deputy Regional Director, Africa, Pact

Marianna Balampama is the Deputy Regional Director, Africa for Pact. She is a public health specialist with over 20 years of experience in development work in the areas of HIV/AIDS, non-communicable diseases and systems strengthening. She has worked for international and local NGOs, a diplomatic mission and research organizations. Marianna is a certified board director and holds a diploma in clinical medicine, a bachelor's degree in sociology, a postgraduate diploma in healthcare management and a master's degree in international health.
